Watched a new episode of 'Bones' tonight. Haven't seen it in a while, though I do catch the reruns on TBS sometimes. A bit confused. Did Brennan hit her head or something last season? She seems to have reverted to the season one version of herself. Very weird. Funniest line of tonight's episode goes to Doc Brennan "...a gathering of Guidos..." LOL-yo.

2. Sebastian Roche returns to GH this December. (Possibly. I say "possibly" because in the last couple of years, the head honchos of GH have gotten into the habit of announcing a storyline (more evil Cassadines) or coming soon characters (Valentin? Zoe?) only to shelve it all indefinitely). I hope it does work out and "Jerry Jax" returns. He is a sleaze of a character and the show is lacking a true villain. Bring it on.

3. The best show you're not watching? One Life to Live. Seriously. Watch it. Spoiler-free. There are like 400 characters on the show right now and yet the writers manage to use all of them. Pretty balanced mix of young & seasoned actors/characters. Uses its history pretty well. (Are you listening GH honchos?)

Where credit is due:
1. Bones-Thursdays on FOX
2. Roche-Soapnet.com
3. Me. Been a long time since I have written here. Life just got itself all caught up and I haven't known in some time whether I was coming, going, or already been there.
There has been sickness, death, marriage, births, losses of jobs, just chaos, chaos, chaos.

But that's life, right?

John Lennon sang "Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans".

So, trying to find some cohesion in life and plans. Gain some control and make a positive momentum. I am tired of just streaming along the river, I want the paddle and I want to steer where I am going for a change!

I am getting to an age that both haunts and thrills me and I want to start living my life before my life starts living me.

I am taking control of my sanity, my family desires, my health, my career, etc, etc so look the f. out!!!

I will feel sorry for whoever gets in my way, but only just enough to keep me humble.

Huh. I did and I also felt stupid for stressing over it. It was a beautiful wedding and an incredibly joyful event.

I was also stressing as the job I had was being discontinued and knew I was looking at a job search for Christmas. That issue met resolution in the new year. I am grateful to be working. Its not the dream job but its a job with benefits which is getting harder to come by. I know I am fortunate and grateful to the powers that be.
Anyway, I decided to stop stressing about stupid things. Stupid stress leads to heart disease, possibly. Or maybe cataracts.

Now a year later, I am finding people stressing over things they need not be stressing about. This gives me new stress and makes me a bit sad. I don't want cataracts and I hate being sad.
Why can't people be happy with what they have? Why can't they be more grateful?
Even in these turbulent times there still remains hope and faith. Its there, really-all you have to do is look.

With so many people struggling right now it truly is a disgrace that others who are lucky enough not to have anything to complain about need to make stuff up. They bring down the morale. In short, they suck the life out of the room and leave others feeling drained by the end of the day.

So to all of you out there who have nothing better to do but complain ad nauseum about stupid nonsense like traffic, what he/she has that you don't, how people are out to get you, who Paris Hilton's new BFF is, whether or not your kagillion dollars is protected (really if your 97 years old and have all of your capacities, why the hell are you locking your money in a 5 year CD? She said it was nothing like she imagined. Greece was amazingly profound and Pompeii heartbreaking, eerie and overwhelming.

It got me thinking about all of the world wonders-from the large (Pyramids, Stonehenge, Great Wall of China) to the small (ancient pottery, scrolls, cave paintings).

What do we have now that is built to last that will still be here in just one thousand years? (Besides styrofoam cups and plastic supermarket bags!)

What will the future think of us? What from our time (20th/2st centuries) will still be around for tourists to care enough to visit in the year 3008?

Till next time,

Na Noo Na Noo

Pleasant Valley Thursday

Just some questions & thoughts to pose for the day:

1. When did soap operas get so violent? Guiding Light has a creepy stalker 9 year old, General Hospital puts bullets in it's only 12 year old. On a related note, Days of Our Lives has managed somewhat successfully to SORAS (soap opera rapid aging syndrome) nearly every child born in the last ten years. Nevermind they are all related to one another but date anyway...Huh? What happened to 'love in the afternoon' 'on the run stories' 'will they or won't they?' Families don't get together to talk unless they are trapped on an island together (Days), held captive in a hotel (GH), or are hanging out at the hospital because someone contracted some weird disease from tree bark (All My Children). Daytime serials are supposed to be a bit light hearted and fun with some angst thrown in for good measure. They are supposed to be an escape-your supposed to want to be these people or their friend for an hour. At this rate Port Charles is the last place anyone breathing should be, Pine Valley is a bit hokey, Salem is as creepy as ever, and Guiding Light, well I'm just not ready for my akward close-up just yet.

2. Whilst perusing the internet to see what movies beside Indy 4 were coming this summer, I ran into a couple of sites talking about a Land of the Lost movie for next year. Er...okay. Whatever, I'll hold out for Sigmund and the Sea Monsters on Ice. Or better yet, The Banana Splits on Broadway. (Hmmn Will Ferrell is in Land of the Lost-may have to rethink it)

3. I'm growing tired of all of the 'Guy' movies which are in reality 'Chick Flicks'. Now I am a chick and quite fond of the better chick flicks: Bridget Jones (the first one), Serendipity, Under the Tuscan Sun. But the latest trend? Made of Honor? Forgetting Sarah Marshall?, X-Files 2? (yeah come on and face it the only reason X-Files even lasted as long as it did was because everyone wanted to see Scully and Mulder together.)

4. Anyhoo the search for movies to perhaps budget for now in order to see this summer did turn up a gem or two: Speed Racer with that guy from Lost, Star Trek #243 just for the cool bad guy from Heroes, and a heads up for the fall and next year: Harry Potter 6, Land of the Lost (its Will Ferrell), and a chick flick called The Rebound or Rebound with Catherine Zeta Jones (who doesn't make enough chick flicks and she should-I get the feeling that she is actually a better actress than she thinks she is and is holding back) and Justin Bartha who is most known as geeky Riley in the National Treasure films.

5. There is no five. I need another cup of coffee so I'm going now. Later.

Tuesday: Mirror, mirror, where art thou?

Just came back from a major department store. One that seems to be anti-mirror. No mirrors anywhere on the entire first floor, which is all womens. Women need mirrors. Yes, there are some in the fitting rooms. There is one fitting room on one side and another fitting room on the other side of the first floor. Lots of clothing in between but no mirrors. Do I really need to trek back and forth to the fitting rooms from the center of the store to find a mirror? Actually, I lie a little, the escalator sides were mirrored. I suppose I could have ridden them up and down holding blouses up to my face. The sunglass display had those foil mirrors but I couldn't bend sideways. There was a half mirror in the delicates department that was hung too high and I got tired of jumping. Now I'm not lazy its just that sometimes you don't need to try something on, you just want to check the color or style against your face/body!
Many moons ago, I worked in a department store. Mirrors were everywhere. Even in the men's department, as they seemed to need them more. The children's department had mirrors set at kid level. The shoe department had mirrors for your feet as well as full size mirrors. Sometimes store managers would walk around demanding "More Mirrors!" So, I am befuddled.
Not the end of the world or even a dent in the fabric of real life, just an annoyance. Its out of my system and I'm over it.
